It’s November 24th 2015 5:21 am. I can’t sleep because I am SO excited- It happened! We are having a baby!!!!!!
🙂 Here’s the story:
On Friday of last week your Dad and I drove up to Spokane to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with The Johnsons. We took an entire week off of work to enjoy some family time and I was very excited to hit the road. We packed up the car and left in the afternoon for the 8 hour drive. We brought our pup (Pepper) and one of our cats (Dilly) with us. The drive was interesting with two pets on board!
We made it around 8pm on Friday night- we said our hellos, visited for a bit and then hit the sack so we could wake up early the next day to drive down to Pullman. Pullman is a special place for your Dad and I- It’s where we met. We wanted to go there for a Cougar football game that started later in the day but we left early and made a day of it. Your grandparents joined us and the four of us had a very nice lunch at Birch and Barley (my favorite restaurant in town), followed by a visit to the local Cider House and then a coffee break at one of my favorite little coffee shops downtown. We played card games while keeping warm before the big game- It was really fun! We took a picture outside the chemistry building, the official meeting place for us 🙂
The game didn’t start until 7:45 pm and it was COLD!! We all had a great time together though. We ended up driving home pretty late at night, your grandparents both fell asleep in the back seat of the car- it was pretty cute. The next day we all just relaxed- the boys watched football and your grandmother and I went to a craft fair. Then yesterday your Dad and I decided to head to downtown Spokane to do a little Christmas shopping. One of my favorite things is going shopping during the Holiday season, the malls are always decorated so nice and I just love the atmosphere. We left late morning and spent the whole day shopping and enjoying each others company. We took a break and hung out in a little coffee shop for a while and just relaxed and talked. I love spending days like this with your dad, they are the best!
Closer to dinner time we met your grandparents at Northern Quest Casino. We had dinner together and everyone gambled for a bit. I’m not a huge fan of gambling so I just walked around and people watched while your Dad played Blackjack. He ended up winning $160 and was in pretty high spirits as we left the casino. I guess it was our lucky day 🙂
On the way home I realized that I haven’t checked my calendar in a while. I looked and quickly realized that I was three days late! I got really excited and had to figure out how I could stop at the store for a pregnancy test without your Dad knowing what I was up to. I asked him if it would be okay if we stopped at a store close to your grandparents house. I then told him that I forgot to pack “girl stuff”. He was disappointed that I needed “girl stuff” (because we really wanted to be pregnant) and reached over to hold my hand because he knew that was something I would be sad about too. When we got there I told him I would just run in quick and he could wait in the car.
After we got home and I worked out all my nervous exciting feelings I began to get ready for bed. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! I almost screamed with excitement!! I was all by myself downstairs because that was where the guest room was at your grandparents house. I couldn’t wait one second to tell your Dad so I called him down. We were standing in the guest room and I showed him the positive test results. He looked at me shocked and smiled and then gave me the biggest hug ever! I cried of course and we just stood there for the next couple of minutes in complete shock and excitement. Your Dad had the biggest smile on his face and he kept hugging and kissing me. It was one of the best moments we have ever had together. I told your Dad I wasn’t convinced yet so I waited a couple of hours and took a second test, which was also positive 🙂
We decided not to tell anyone just yet, I like being one of the two people in the whole world that know you exist. I have to say that I have never felt more grateful and thankful in my life. Every night for the past 6 months I have prayed for you. I am SO ready to be a Mom. I can’t wait for all the exciting moments that are about to happen as we take care of you and prepare for your arrival. I feel blessed knowing that a little peanut is growing inside me- it just fills me with an incredible joy.
I laid in bed last night and put my hands on my tummy. I closed my eyes and just thanked God for bringing you into my life.
I can’t wait to continue this blog and document all the steps your Dad and I take during our journey into parenthood, starting with sharing the news with our loved ones! We love you so much and couldn’t be more excited to have you join us.
Welcome to Our Family Little One, We Love You!
