Just wanted to check in quick with a post. This past week has been insanely busy and stressful. Just as I got done writing my last post about how much we love our pets, I noticed that my oldest kitty, Dilly, was looking a little skinny. I made an appointment assuming that the vet would just say we need to get him on a better feeding schedule, but it turned out to be much worse than that. Dilly has had kidney problems in the past and they came back to haunt us (with perfect timing since Halloween just around the corner). It was a very scary week and Dilly ended up needing surgery and almost didn’t make it. I tried my best to just take one day at a time and everyday he seemed to show promise of getting better. After a week long stay in the hospital I was able to bring him home- I’m so grateful to have some more time with him.
I hate that it always take a big traumatic event for me to re-evaluate my life. I realized that I don’t spend as much time as I should with my pets and I waste a lot of time getting caught up in things that don’t really matter. I appreciate Dilly for the reality check and plan to make changes to focus more on being a better pet owner and spend less time stressing about the small stuff.
Throughout all the madness I was able to sneak away for a night and go down to Salt Lake City to meet up with some good friends. Your Dad and I met Dane in graduate school and he started dating a pretty lady named Jackie. Dane and Jackie have been amazing friends to your Dad and I- I always had such a great time hanging out with them. They now live in Portland and flew in to SLC to meet up with us and some other friends we have down there. We went out to dinner, went to haunted house and then hung out at a dueling piano bar after. It only took one fun night with good friends to calm me down after the hectic week I had and I was very grateful for the time I got to spend with them. My friends really know how to make me laugh and they help me feel so much better about how insane things can get.
Dane and Jackie are getting married in July of 2016 and asked your Dad and I to be in their wedding. I must say that I am VERY EXCITED!! I love weddings and I know for sure that this one is going to be so much fun. I am very honored to be part of their special day I can’t wait to help plan all the fun events like the shower and bachelorette party 🙂 I am so lucky to have such amazing people in my life, I’m not sure what I would do without such great friends.
Your dad and I are going on our sixth month of trying to get pregnant. I keep telling myself that it takes time to make a baby, but it’s pretty hard for me to remain patient. I have a feeling the next couple of months are going to be huge for your dad and I, we are still job searching and I have high hopes that we will be moving within the next year. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us!
